History repeating itself
The current spate of tirades against Democrats trying to promote their healthcare reform proposals at town hall meetings is not without antecedant. Congressman Dan Rostenkowski (D-IL) learned that hell hath no fury like a senior citizen scorned back in 1989:
It has not gone unnoticed that the Democrats have a senior problem. Their healthcare reform sales pitch has targeted mainly the middle class (who already have insurance) and the uninsured (many if not most of whom don’t really need insurance). The old folks have been snubbed.
On the other hand, one can’t help but smile at the idea that President Obama’s alleged first step to bringing socialized medicine to the United States is under attack from Medicare recipients who already have socialized medicine.
